I go to a lot of shows. Here's what I've got to look forward to and what I've already experienced

graham House Party tour surprise date. I was in Philly for Pink Pantheress and missed it. Reece got an AAR Lawrence specific t-shirt. How cool

reece this shit was life changing genuinely
reece i knew like almost every word to every song they played except i hadn't really gotten into View From Our Bedroom Window yet somehow and also somehow had never really listened to Why It Scares Me
Setlist
reece Played a No Devolución and A City by the Light Divided set and then a Full Collapse headliner set.

reece Playing through Waiting 🥹
reece
Was a tiny little bar venue with a tiny little stage in the corner. Very cool to see Thursday in that environment. And of course Waiting was awesome to see live.
IF WE NEVER MEET AGAIN
IT WOULD BE TOO SOON
Setlist
reece Went to this show because Equipment posted about it on Bluesky!!!
reece so many bands. Full lineup here.
reece Spirit airlines rescheduled our flights like 3 times so I finally cancelled them and rebooked on different airlines and added a stop in Phoenix for the Jimmy show and the extra flight + rebooks only ended up costing us $40 more each and were at way more convenient times (no more leaving Vegas at 7:55am the day after the fest!!)
reece Bands we saw here
graham Surreal experience in the pouring rain which culminated in streaks of lightning behind the stage while they played before their encore was cut due to the weather.

reece Incredible show as always :3 Some people formed a phone chess group on the floor of the pit during This Song Brought To You By A Falling Bomb which felt so incredibly disrespectful. But then the next song was Fast to the End so I perhaps did a little slamming into the pit as soon as the song started which got everyone back up pretty fast lol (they were fineee).
Setlist
reece Played through Is a Real Boy. I got Covid and missed it but will see at When We Were Young anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Setlist
reece Least Anticipated Album Tour and the tour poster has the FTWHH phoenix on it and they remastered that album last year 👀
reece update: this was not a FTWHH tour lol
Setlist
reece Best set of the fest, as always. Pit was hard until someone threw up in the middle right before Bite to Break Skin 🙃. Some wonderfully folk were able to clean it up surprisingly well before the song started so the pit still went off

reece Joey played a set before KCeMO took over and then played another set leading up to midnight, bringing in the new year. I wore my Thursday Jet Black New Year festive sweater so Joey played the song right after midnight which was a fantastic way to start the year <3
reece Playing through The Albatross
reece Ended up leaving after Hotelier because my friends and I are normies and haven't ever been able to get into Foxing. Sorry Foxing fans I have failed you 😔

reece The band came on stage to a piano instrumental cover of the Life is Not a Waiting Room title bonus track. I tweeted about this after the show and Buddy recognized me as the first person to officially notice 🥰🥰
reece Crowd kinda sucked. I started a pit right as Lungs Like Gallows started but almost no one joined. Ended up only pitting to a few songs on the album and there were very few of us in the pit. Some dude shouted "Play some old stuff" twice after Chandelier like jesus my guy just wait two more songs. Buddy actually responded along the lines of "Old stuff? This album is 15 years old now ...." People started moving a bit more once the album play was over but it was still very few people >:(
reece Anyway overall this was an absolutely amazing show and I'm so glad they came through Lawrence two years in a row. I bought a signed vinyl of the album and a tour shirt for $150 total 🙃
Setlist
reece Playing through War All The Time 20 years to the day since its release. They played through Full Collapse last year as a Riot Fest late show (even though they didn't play the fest itself) but unfortunately Graham and I missed that one.
reece One of the sickest shows of my life. No one really moved much for Braid since they aren't that kind of band and then when Thursday started, everyone seemed kinda hesitant to start anything. I wasn't in a very good place to start a pit but ended up pushing forward and starting it anyway for the end of For The Workforce, Drowning cause someone had to. After that, people pretty much kept the pit going the entire set :))
reece Thursday tacked on Jet Black New Year to the end of the War All The Time playthrough because, as Geoff explained, it was apparently originally meant to be the final track on the album but Victory Records sucked and vetoed that for whatever reason.
reece The sixth member of our group, Liz, (who works in the music industry) was asked last minute by one of the managers she works with to go to this show. Since tickets were no longer available online, I bought her one from the ticket booth and then waited for her to arrive to give it to her. She ended up making it to the show just a few minutes before Thursday started their set which was fantastic timing. And then Geoff said that the show had officially sold-out ten minutes earlier. So it was definitely lucky I was able to buy her a ticket :)
reece A person in a wheel chair joined the pit and would roll forward and shove people with a surprising amount of force. She later crowd-surfed in the wheel chair. Was sick. Also met a wonderful person who ended up giving Liz and I a ride back to our AirBnb after the show. He joined me for Finch in the pit.

reece Massive crowd came to see this. The notes on setlist.fm for this set are well worth reading lol. Certainly an interesting experience 👍
reece Played a new song Last Bible that they've been playing at each stop on the tour. God Daryl Palumbo is so cool lol

reece Set was rescheduled to start at the same time as gates opened at the furthest stage from the entrance. Somehow our group ended up near the front of the line and when we were let in, I (and several other people) sprinted across the entire festival grounds to reach their stage. I ended up only missing half of the first song (Running from the Rain lol) which they played to like 15 people. After a few songs, the crowd filled in and things sort of normalized.
reece
At the late show the night before, Geoff told a story about how the band almost died driving down a snow-covered mountain on their way back home for Christmas. He ended the story by saying
"... but we were safe. We were safe.
...
WE WERE SAFE-"
launching straight into At This Velocity. So when he told the same story at the fest, I was ready to immediately start the pit 😈
Setlist
reece
Seemed to have some sound problems throughout the set but whatever -- was very cool to see this band live :))
They didn't play any tracks off of Separation and they interrupted the transition between Back of Your Head and Tiny Raindrop with Last to Know for some reason but I was very happy that they closed with Notice Me. Felt very cathartic to scream out the final lines to close the set.

reece Crowd surfed during What It Is To Burn and made it back to the pit in time to go crazy for SHE BURNS screams
Setlist
reece I went up front for this band and the moment they started two people stage dove and one of them half-landed on me and then fell to the floor but got up immediately. And then no one stage dove or moved really for the rest of the set because this is a shoegaze band lol. I guess they were expecting another hardcore/punk band after High Vis lol
reece Tiny bar with a tiny stage in the corner that people were constantly stage-diving off of. I was way at the back for this one
Setlist
Setlist
reece The bassist, Warren, apparently played the set with a torn ACL
reece This show was actually awesome. So much better than the past few times we've seen them. The pit went hard. Sound Effects and Overdramatics almost killed me.
Setlist
reece We were pretty far back behind the sound booth for this set so we didn't get to mosh much. Was an awesome show though. Vic sang to a fan and gave them his guitar o.O
Setlist
reece The show was at least half an hour behind schedule by the time All-American Rejects played and they had to cut their set short. It's weird to me that they cut the headliner short instead of earlier bands :(
Setlist
reece The show was quite behind schedule by the time Dashboard came on. But they still played a full set, as far as I could tell.
Setlist
reece Not much crowd movement throughout the show but I was hoping there'd be something for this band at least. VIP probably isn't the best place to mosh but it looked like GA wasn't moving either :/
Setlist
reece Joey Donut DJed between sets! Really good stage presence and he played at least three songs that were very specific to our group :)
reece Joey also hosted an after-party at the Minibar which was fun as always
Setlist
reece Near the end of the set, Daron Malakian (the guitarist) asked "Why am I seeing so few pits? Is someone telling you guys not to mosh? I want you all of you to mosh anyway." And then three massive pits immediately opened up right next to me. So that was really cathartic after Deftones.
reece Four of our group split off from Graham and me to use the bathroom after Deftones. They ended up not staying for the whole SOAD set (even having not been at the fest as long as that group and having gotten more sleep than them, I still wasn't sure I'd make it through the whole SOAD set. It was really hard to stay standing). I split off from Graham for the bathroom near the end of Korn. Spent most of SOAD separated but when the massive pits opened up near the end, I just crossed through the middle of three of them to around where I had left Graham and managed to find him there. So we got to see the last couple songs together which was cool.
Setlist
reece Our group of six started a small pit in which we were just shoving each other and a few other people joined in. We happened to be right next to a speaker tower and a security guard at the tower threatened to throw me out of the fest if we didn't keep the moshing within our own group. Since we already were keeping the moshing within our own group, we just stopped moshing. We were not in a dangerously dense area and our pit certainly wasn't aggressive. It really felt like the guard had never seen a mosh pit before. This occurrence did not feel very punk.
Setlist
reece Somehow was at the front of the crowd for the start of this. Moshed to Stupid Horse.
Setlist
reece Our other group attended this set but my brothers and I just stayed at Sick stage through Sevendust and Spiritbox.
Setlist
reece Power cut out to the stage after only three songs and they weren't able to continue their set
Setlist
reece Only listed bands some of our group attended. Here's the schedule of bands my brothers and I saw.
Setlist
reece 20th anniversary of What It Is to Burn!!! As far as I can tell, this was their first show since 2015.
Setlist
reece I met a person with a Static Dress hoodie in the crowd and they recognized my Muted Color Daisy Chain shirt and informed me their band played with Muted Color :o but then I forgot what they said their band's name was and I didn't get their name >.<
reece
Someone stole my pride hat at the end of the Finch set because I think they thought it was theirs that they had dropped and that I had picked it up in the pit. So they just sort of snatched it out of my hands and put it on their head (presumably without seeing the giant rainbow heart on it). I thought they were just messing around and would give it back to me after the song but then I lost track of them and never saw them again >:(
But also a wonderful woman gave me some of her concert earplugs that happened to be the same brand, color, and size as mine when I lost one because she always carries spares :)
reece Finch played straight through What It Is to Burn and Graham and I were in the pit for the whole set. We had listened through every Finch song we could find a few times in preparation, but then one of the only two songs not from on WIITB that they played was Worms of the Earth which is only on their live album so we overlooked it during our preparation lol. The next night, Finch apparently covered Deftones's Be Quiet and Drive and I think I would have actually died instantly if they played it our night.
reece They opened with A Box Full of Sharp Objects again which will never get old. They turned the event into a karaoke night with a sign-up sheet to sing some songs with them on stage (in addition to the songs they played unaided). I sang Buried Myself Alive and Can't Be Saved and it was probably terrible haha. Graham sang The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows and it was awesome. There were some absolutely fantastic singers from the audience.
reece emovspoppunk DJ Joey Donut played songs downstairs throughout the live performance upstairs. Joey also came upstairs to sing several songs. When the live/karaoke set ended at midnight, everyone went downstairs for the emovspoppunk party until 2:30 am. One of the last couple of songs was What it is to Burn <3
reece
my knuckles have turned to white
there's no turning back tonight
They opened with It's a Dangerous Business. Amazing show.

If they had played their eponymous track I would have died, I think.

Someone recognized Graham and me in the Underoath pit from the Emo Vs Screamo night at the Rino
Went to the emo vs pop punk night at the minibar after the show. Wonderful experience, as always. Joey played I'm Content with Losing to make up for the fact that Underoath didn't. He also played two tracks from Let It Enfold You which was sick.
reece
This was actually amazing. The band played screamo and pop punk and emo stuff for 4 hours straight. And they opened with Box of Sharp Objects 😮.
We got Joey Donut of emo vs pop punk fame to come :)
Graham and I made it into their recap video!

DJ for emo and pop punk music
This was our second time attending this event. Our group was me, my brother Graham, and our friends Jacob and Ryan.
As with last time, the songs the DJ @thejoeydonut played were so much better than any large-scale emo night we've been to. And he actually takes requests!!
The group next to us requested Car Underwater and What it is to Burn during the latter of which I jumped up out of my chair and punched the air at "SHE BURNS" and I hit a light which started swinging around wildly which was embarrassing lol. The DJ bought our table a round of drinks at some point 🙏
Fantastic night overall.

This was like exactly the same concept (and music) as Emo Nite LA but with way more people. Was just Jacob and I for this trip.
Before the show officially started but after we were inside, they played Give It All which was cool but also Sound Effects and Overdramatics which was absolutely insane to hear at an emo night. I ditched the bar line and sprinted to the pit when that came on but there were only like 3 of us moshing and I think like literally only I knew the song lmao. Absolutely wild.
They occasionally brought groups of like 7 people on stage so I ended up on stage for Dammit, The Middle, If You Can't Hang, and Downfall of Us All. A guy in the pit (one of the only other people consistently moshing -- and one of the ones that went on stage with me) made me crowdsurf to Holiday lol. They ended with the emo classic Say it Ain't So which we ditched for lmao
Including any songs I remember and liked in the setlist. We were there from 8 PM to 12:30 AM so a lot of songs were played haha.
reece
that was absolutely insane
the transition from Fireworks at Dawn into Wolves at the Door was painful though because I was so primed for Lungs Like Gallows. but also three songs from Life is Not a Waiting Room was cool as shit so I can't complain. Also the build up to the end of Bite to Break Skin with the medley of covers was fun because when Bite to Break Skin came back, I was so ready for it.
BITE TO BREAK SKIN, DON'T GIVE THE SECRET
People keep thanking Graham and me for starting pits how neat is that

reece Missed all but the last song really, due to the wait to get in 😢. But Writing on the Walls was sick and we got to mosh to it so yay

The crowd was sooooo lame compared to Riot Fest. Graham and I started a pit that consisted of, I think, four people total lol. And people weren't moving at all outside the pit >:(
but we made friends with one of the moshers :3
Setlist
reece Jeremy McKinnon immediately instigated a circle pit lol. Eventually jumped the VIP barrier to join.
Setlist
reece Three songs from LP1 was cool. I can't quite comprehend how the crowd did not go hard for The Used, though. Bert mentioned that they weren't allowed to do a circle pit here which sucks cause then ADTR did one anyway 😔
Setlist
reece Played straight through Wildlife. Phenomenal experience. Jordan gave a really long and heartfelt speech about humanity before a Poem which created a very serious contrast afterwards, leading straight into the next song, when he simply said "King Park." Could definitely feel the weight.

reece Missed like half the set but that's ok cause this was my fifth Hot Mulligan show somehow
Setlist
reece i am quite peeved at the people who ignored Taking Back Sunday because they were just camping out for MCR who were up next >:(
Setlist
reece
Can you say you've moshed to MCR live? 😈
Stupidly went to find a port-a-potty after Taking Back Sunday (but gave up when I saw the lines) and then spent like an hour trying to find my brother in the dense crowd in the dark without internet connection. Found him right before MCR came on, though!
Setlist
reece Chris Freeman of Hot Mulligan and Ryan Key of Yellowcard Dj'd. I'll include some of the songs I remember and loved in the setlist below

reece Used all of my energy screaming "I'LL GIVE YOU SOMETHING TO FORGEEET!" in the Kept circle pit

Overall a worthwhile experience. Transportation was stressful because Google Maps kept lying about routes or they would disappear and because internet was non-existent in the park because of all the people. Chicago's buses like to be 30 minutes late without warning, apparently. So then you miss trains that only come once every 3 hours and then stop at like 11pm (despite what Google would have you believe). And rideshare apps are useless when there's tens of thousands of people trying to leave. But we eventually made it back to the hotel each night, so could have been worse.
This isn't the entire lineup, just the ones I saw.
reece Moved inside and played an acoustic set due to weather. We left before their set cause we're still lame
Setlist
reece I started the mosh pit after the count down in Jet Black because the crowd was small because everyone was skipping Thursday to wait for Hot Mulligan >:(
Setlist
reece They played the verse/chorus from Ocean Avenue, Cute without the E, I'm Not Okay, and The Taste of Ink all at once and it was life changing to be in the pit
Setlist
reece
The live music was sick but I swear like 80% of the songs they played they prefaced with, "Ok this one is definitely not emo" >:(
My brother Brady made them play SoaD though, lol.
Setlist
reece John Nolan was wearing a Bourgeois Pig shirt -- A bar in Lawrence. That's how I learned TBS's guitarist lives in Lawrence. I love this town.
Setlist
reece I am peeved that this band decided to never play Magnolia again. I love so many songs on that album >:(

graham No openers. Before the show they previewed parts of their upcoming documentary, including an interview with Hayley Williams.

Moshed to Two Years and then live music disappeared for a year due to Covid. The second year was sparse but now we're back at full steam, for better or worse.
"I had a life and I had friends, and I miss all of them."
The vocalist, Brian Swindle, had a tough time especially for Two Years since this was their final tour after their former drummer and founding member, Aaron Alt died. Although, now the band is teasing a new EP so that's exciting.
Setlist
reece The crowd at this show largely consisted of parents with young kids so the mosh pit ended up being several kids walking around in a circle while Bert yelled stuff like, "Lets see you guys open up this pit!" And then he had us do a wall of death with parents holding drinks lol.
